'Glass Vase' still life acrylic painting

GLASS VASE

My collector from Patna purchsed the 'Glass Vase' painting after seeing a picture of it in the 'Paintings for All'  blog .  So I asked him after the painting was delivered, how he liked it.     I was very pleased when he wrote to me saying that he rated a 110 out of 100 after seeing it in real life.  Thanks to him, my day was made.
This is an acrylic painting on canvas of size 6"x8".  This painting was done during a real still life project, whicn I set up for my ART CLASS students, and I too decided to paint it.

Painting of 'Panche' - Body Language series.

'Panche'/white dhoti is a traditional attire of the South Indians even to day. Most comfortable dress -the men swear! Folding the panche whenever u want is a great advantage.

Whatever the case, one thing is for sure. It is certainly one of a kind dress. 'Panche' is an acrylic painting of a South Indian man wearing a white dhoti folded for convenience; in the hot sun represented by the bright orange color, and the direct shadow below in red, indicating that the sun is at noon.

Painting of Indian women wearing sarees and flowers

Women in Sarees wearing flowers
I find that the Indian saree coupled with the strand of jasmine flowers worn by the Indian woman is the most unique attire in the world. It can only be carried off by the Indian ladies with such great ease of style.

Such a common sight in India, but how many of us have the time for a second look. It gave me great pleasure doing this painting.

'Indian women in sarees and flowers' is an acrylic painting of size 16"x20".
This painting will be on show from 1st to 8th Feb 2009 at Chitra Kala Parishad - Bangalore.

Painting of The Cart Vendor

This is a painting of an Indian Cart Vendor pushing his cart with his wares. He is wearing the usual head dress that protects him from the hot sun, and is in a folded lungi and a white shirt.

The background of this painting is abstracted and done with the 'glazing' technique to give the wonderful rich green color. Whereas the turban and shirt is done with the 'impasto' technique.

This is an acrylic painting on canvas of size 12"x16" readied for the 'Body Lanuage' show.

Close up of the Indian tender coconut vendor

My fascination for the Indian tender coconut vendor continues. I chose to paint a close up this time, hoping to capture the interesting contours on the face caused by the 12 o clock sun.
I also hope to have captured the body language showing his style and the self confidence in his work.
This is an acrylic painting of size 12"x16". Please click HERE to see how this painting will look if it is framed.

The Wave

The Wave is an acrylic painting on canvas that was recently purchased by a lover of art. The painting is of size 16"x12", and depicts the coast of Kerala -India in the background. I have done this painting in a dual syle. Notice that the background is done in the 'realistic style', whereas, the foreground, which is the 'the wave' itself, is done in an 'impressionist style', showing the reflection of the evening sunlight on the wave.

FLOWER BASKET

Flower Basket is an acrylic painting of size 16"x12".

'Jasmine' and 'Genneri' (Indian name) are the major variety of flowers I use to do my daily pooja (prayers). These small flowers are very beautiful, colorful and convenient in size to serve flowers to God while chanting manthras. Last October when my garden produced a record bounty of flowers, I just filled handfulls into the basket and set up a still life setting for this painting.

SMILE PLZ - FACES OF INDIA

Smile Plz - is an oil painting on canvas of size-12"x16". During my recent visit to see my father who is staying in a beautiful village near Madurai in South India, I had equipped myself with a digital camera, to click some great shots of the beautiful sceneries there. But what really struck me was the people themselves rather than the sceneries. The life style there is very slow and leisuely. Nobody is in a hurry to finish their work, nor tensed to get anywhere. They always have a ready smile for visitors, and ever ready to pose for photograhs! I saw this grandma-grandson duo washing clothes, and casually asked for permission to click a photo. They immediately gave brilliant smiles which could match only the sunlight there! I did not have the heart to tell them to give me a natural pose, and so clicked them as they were--that is in their natural themselves! So I was lucky enough to click not just the beautiful sceneries in the village, but the essence and mood of the people there! I am really glad to paint this picture, because I was able to live through the smiles and happy mood of the people as long as I was painting them. I hope the smile has caught on to u too.

Joggers Path- winter time

Jogger's Path - winter time - is an oil painting of size 30"x24".

Enthused on seeing my painting of the 'Jogger's Path - spring time', my son-in -law clicked some photos of the same jogger's path scene covered with snow during winter, and sent me via email (I was back home in India). As I had already been in this same spot and had a feel of the place and atmosphere here, I was able to transform it into a painting. This paitning is for him.

Joggers Path- spring time

Joggers Path- is an oil painting on canvas of size 30"x24"

This jogger's pathway in a community in Texas USA, is lit by the afternoon sun. There were no joggers at this time, and so I clicked some photos to capture the sun and the shadows on canvas at a later time. And so here it is.
