Flora in my Garden - Small paintings

 The beautiful Flora in my little garden inspired me into painting this series of small size, square format paintings. Soothing to the eye, delicate flowers tend to bring a feel of peace and calm into my mind.

The beautiful Heliconia Plant painting

The beautiful curves of the Heliconia plant never ceases to inspire me into painting them.  The orange flowers and the curvy-long leaves urge me to take on the brush with pleasure.  Probably that is the reason that I have done so many paintings of this beautiful plant, and continue to do so even now.    This painting I did using the glazing technique and is a fav of mine.

I tried my hand on the new digital media, and came up with two paintings of a flower bouquet.  It is a wonderful experience to learn this new media called 'digital painting'.  This media is a vast ocean by itself, and may take more than a few life times to master it - I think.  Marvelous experience. 

  I would really appreciate comments on these studies.  

A little bit scared that this media may manipulate me away from the 'real thing'. -- Or should I go with the times.

'Profile of a Red Rose' is an oil painting on canvas of size 6"x8". - Rose Series
Painting a rose is always a challenge, because no two roses are ever the same.

God had created this rose in such a vibrant red, that the temptation to try it on canvas was great.
I have applied thick oil paint in the 'impasto' style to give the textured effect, and chose different types of red to create the light and shadow effect.

This may take some time to dry in this cold weather of Bangalore but it was a pleasure painting this 'profile of red rose'.

IN THE SHADE OF A PALM TREE

There was so much of sunlight and so much of shadows, and so much of reflected light; - giving me scope for using a whole lot of lovely colors for this 'plein air' painting.
'In The Shade' is an acrylic painting on canvas of sizw 12"x16".

Painting of 'Potfull of bounty'

Beautiful orange flowers sprouting out of a small mud pot is the subject matter of this painting. What was very interesting to me was the play of sunlight and shadows involved here.
