Moments of 'Akanksha 2' group art show photos.

Some interesting moments at my corner of the 'Akanksha 2' group art show that recently concluded at  the - Chithra Kala Parishath Art Complex and Museum,  at Bengaluru. The show lasted 5 days starting 15th -19th April 2015.

I presented a series of 6 paintings called 'Love in Lal Bagh' at this mega group art show.

The show was inaugurated by eminent artists and dignitaries and I feel happy to say that I was privileged to give the welcome address to start off the show.

The Chief guest was Smt Rekha Hebbar Rao eminent artist and also daughter of the late K K Hebbar. Artist K K Hebbar was one of the most respected and well known artist if India, and his works are preserved and kept for public view at the Venkatappa Gallery and Museum at Bengaluru.

The guests of honor were popular artists Smt Anuradha Nalapat (also an advocate), Mrs Usha Rai (also a Kannada writer, founder and a participant of Akanksha, and also my good friend) and established artist Mrs Shantha Sathyanarayana.

Invitation to my upcoming group art show - Akanksha

An undertaking of 'Akanksha Group Shows and Festivals', 'Akanksha' is the second season of painting exhibition, curated and organized by fellow artist and good friend Mrs Shyamala Ramanand.

The participants are 67 fine artist ladies (including me :)), and together we propose to create a festival of paintings in the coming week at Chithra kala Parishath - Bengaluru.

Personally, I will be exhibiting a body of work called 'Love in Lal Bagh'.  As the name suggests, it is a romantic collection portraying the lucky couples who jaunt the Lal Bagh gardens of Bangalore city to share their heart to their loved one.

Executed in the 'impasto' style, I have painted them using lovable and pretty colors which is the aura of romantic Lal Bagh.

I love the lilting sound of the string instrument Veena. Especially when it is played by the nimble fingers of a female artist. I look forward to 'Navrathri. festival time when many artists get together to give wonderful performances. The accompanying instrument is the Tamboora in the background.

Reves Art Workshop on 'How to paint a still life in acrylics'

I was thrilled when fellow artist and good friend Mrs Rajini Rekha - the proud owner of her own new Art Gallery --'Reve's Art Gallery', requested me to conduct an art workshop, that would be the first activity at her premises. I agreed gladly, and the art workshop on 'Learn to paint a still life in acrylics' took place on the 13th and 14th Dec 2014 at Reves Art Galley.

It was a first time for me too, as I was conducting a workshop for the first time. My previous experience in having conducted regular weekend art class was greatly helpful. What would have taken place in an eight class session had to be imparted in just 2 days, and that was a great challenge to me.

I was pleasantly surprised at the 10 cheerful participants (limited), who were ever so eager and highly absorbent of what ever was imparted, in such a short time. It was a mixed group including IT professionals, doctor, professor, home maker, architect and a even a couple of students from the 7th and 9th grade. They were indeed happy to take back home a self-done, and fully completed still life painting ready to be framed and displayed in their homes. 

Thanks to Mrs Rajini Rekha garu for the lovely experience and the wonderful arrangements including the nourishment that was provided to all, which I enjoyed along with all the participants. 

Actor Sridevi shares my painting 'Sridevi' on National TV - ETV Telugu channel

I feel very elated and happy to share the ETV Telugu episode of 'Soundarya Lahiri' show wherein Actor Sridevi shares fer favourite 3 paintings. One amongst them is a  painting I did of her inspired by the very popular scene in the movie Mr. India.The scene shows a song number called 'I Love You' in which Sridevi  performs a scintillating dance wearing a translucent blue saree which has left many a heart fluttering. The other 2 paintings she has shared being - one of her own creation, and another done by actor Salman Khan which was presented to her. Wow!!! To be one amongst them!

Although my name is not mentioned anywhere (because they don't know me) it is heartwarming to know that  Actor Sridevi has liked it enough to share it on the popular ETV Telugu channel. During the show, my painting is shown a second time, when popular director Ram Gopal Varma comments on my painting saying that he likes the 'photo of the girl better' -  he thought my painting was a photo !!!! :))

Reves Art Workshop

Good friend and fellow artist Mrs Rajini Rekha is organizing a weekend workshop at her newly opened  'Reves Art Gallery', wherein I will be sharing some easy steps for creating a beautiful, still-life acrylic painting with 10 participants. The participants will not be required to bring any materials, as all is provided at the gallery, and will be carrying home a beautiful still life painting done by them, ready to be framed and displayed in their Drawing room or dining room.

Money Plant - Still Life Oil Painting

I've been doodling with a digital pen for too long. An occasional acrylic painting kept me sane. But getting back to the traditional oil painting was a different experience after a long time. Thankfully I love to alternate between mediums all the time.

I did this still life painting of a 'Money Plant in a terra cota pot' using oil paints. Loved the long forgotten feel of mixing and applying buttery oils paints on to a canvas with a sable brush.
